We need a genealogist in the family to start researching. Marty Guidry, the Baton Rouge Birder/Environmental Chemist/Genealogist friend who went to Belize with Denise and me recently, sent this to me. Coincidentally, Nanu was talking at Thanksgiving about Maw Maw's name on some public record being incorrect because the German priest recorded "Greta" -- German for Rita. -- djl 12/99 ========================== Date: Fri, 03 Dec 1999 21:43:06 -0600 From: "R. Guess who's in this volume on page 256 - Pedro Augusto L'Hoste, son of Julian Jorge L'Hoste from the department of Morbihan in Brittany, France and Reina Luisa Deheinse, native of Auoray in Brittany, France. Both were residents of New Orleans on October 21, 1820 when their son Pedro Augusto L'Hoste was baptized. He was born September 1, 1820. His paternal grandparents were Pancracio Julian L'Hoste and Maria Josepha Bonniou. His maternal grandparents were Juan Fraqncisco Dehense, a brigadier of the king's palace, and Magdalenia Guiguin. His parrain was Pedro Roche and his marrain was Helena Amelia Texier Dupaty. This record is in the St. Louis Cathedral (New Orleans, LA) records, B31, #149. Unfortunately young Pedro Augusto L'Hoste did not live too long. He died at 11 months of age and was interred from St. Louis Cathedral on 31 July 1821. This record is found in the St. Louis Cathedral records, F13, #36. By the way in this funeral record, young Pedro is called Pierre Auguste L'Hoste and his parents are Julian L'Hoste and Reine Louise Deheinse. My suspicion is that the priest recording the baptism was Spanish - thus the Spanish spellings. That's all that's in this volume, but what a wealth of information - three generations of a family in one record. This is quite rare. I'll bet that you are related to, if not descend from, Julian L'Hoste and Reine Louise Deheinse. So now you have a start. If I find more, I'll let you know. -Marty Title Page Dramatis Personae Photographs Monier History L'Hoste History |
