Butterfly Falls, Mountain Pine Region - by David J. L'Hoste

We hiked along a creek bottom encountering spectacular creatures -- Golden-hooded Tanager, White-winged Tanager, Tody Motmot, Golden-olive Woodpecker, Plain Xenops, Ivory-billed Woodcreeper, Red-capped Manakin, Green Jay and many other beautiful birds. We even saw a Silky Anteater sleeping in a small tree. The trail began to rise and become rockier, and we could hear the sound of waterfall. Someone noticed a Blue Morpho butterfly, then another, then a third. Soon the trail ended at this magical place -- Butterfly Falls.
